Delton goes nova, it's a massive crisis and Porters United is called for aid, which gives Chase and Morgana access to the now restricted zone in the Delta kingdom. They find Delecara on fire and mostly destroyed, Delton (the planet) is barely holding on but they refuse help from anyone who's not Delta. At Delecara, almost all porter ships have been melted by radiation except for one (The Pequod), which is manned by a porter and her scientist girlfriend, who has coincidentally rigged gamma ray shielding to the ship, which absorbed the brunt of the blast and is immobilised, but did survive nonetheless The nova was indeed no accident, but another attack by C-Null (maybe? idfk)

day 0: enid arrives at edgelabs to drop off their deliveries. She brings them inside and makes sure they're all stored properly. she overhears a fierce argument between a young research fellow and an older resident academic master. "I don't want to do this anymore! I quit!", she yells. "I'm leaving with the next crew transport!" but that'll take a few weeks, and she really wants to leave, so she asks the porter if they're going to navareo. Enid says yes and bridget promises to pay them once they're at navareo, but enid also tells her she has to make other stops first

day 1: 1g burn back down the well towards civilisation, through the neutral zone. bridget is having a hard time getting used to the gravity again and throws up a couple of times, so enid helps her regain her senses and makes her tallisite tea, they talk about their lives and what bridget was working on

day 2: bridget has slept in the storage compartment that would eventually become her laboratory, with the blankets she took from edgelabs between shipping boxes and her own bag of stuff. the morning after she wants to shower and almost floods the ship trying to use a regular shower after using the zero-g ones for months

day 3: it's threesday, so enid makes a homecooked meal with supplies she picks up at tallis every other run. bridget says she's fine with just printed tofu, but then tries the risotto enid is making, and instantly falls in love (even though it's not even that good)

day 4: for the first time they sleep in the same bed after bridget complains how terrible the gravity is on her back. they both know they like the cuddling, but they won't admit it. enid gets an urgent order update from tides and has to divert course

day 5: they arrive at tidēs where the varyn apologise profusely for the change in plans and make it up to enid by cleaning and refueling her ship while loading the new delivery, and while waiting they get to have dinner in one of the seaside resorts. that evening they also go for a swim in the heated ocean. the room they get is just a double bed, so they sleep together again. the next morning the ship is ready and they leave

day 6: next stop is the light fields to drop off a shipment. at the light fields power plant, bridget meets a former colleague of hers at theotech and she realises that she doesn't actually want a career with them, edgelabs or techlabs

day 7: they're getting closer to navareo, pass navareo point and bridget talks about the life she'll go back to. living with her family on navareo iii, going back to school and choosing a different AM degree

day 8: they're a good team now. next delivery is at envilles, in the navarean AO, and they manage to complete it in half the time enid would need on their own. enid considers keeping her around

day 9: enid opens up and tells bridget about the marins, date line farmstead and why she started porting. she didn't want to be condemned to manual labour forever, so she bought a shitty porter ship, fixed it up with the help of a shady mechanic shop on an old planetary ruin in the sol system run by a 14-year-old with entirely too little drive to live and started working for porters united. but she also admits that while it's a job, something's missing

day 10: they arrive at navareo iii. enid delivers her goods to the distribution centre and takes on new orders, and as she's about to leave again, she says goodbye to bridget. now good friends, they bring her in for a hug, but idiot little dumb lovely lesbian bridget goes in for a kiss instead. they're both totally flustered and bridget is ready to go all "OH my stars i'm so sorry i didn't mean to i'm sorry i'll never look at you again i'm sorry" but enid stops her and kisses her back

and they just start doing porter runs, smaller ones in the closer well, and they just sorta gradually become girlfriend and girlfriend
